The Cardiologist plays a pivotal role in the long-term treatment of patients with cardiovascular problems.

Non - intervention Cardiology
The Desun Cardiology team headed by eminent doctors- both from Government hospitals and private consultants blend clinical experience with expertise. Patients can also consult visiting cardiologists at the hospital's Out-Patients' Department (OPD). Where necessary, consultations between doctors / referrals may be made to enable a faster and more accurate diagnosis.

Cardiac treatment is backed by a full range of sophisticated diagnostic equipment. Apart from the routine Treadmill, Echo-cardiography and Colour Doppler studies, DESUN has also performed radial Angioplasty and radial angiography with stenting which is a rare phenomenon in this part of the country.

Radial Angiography
Here the catheter is guided through the wrist instead of the thigh. It is a relatively new process and Desun is one of the few hospitals in Kolkata where radial angiography is being performed very successfully. It is relatively less painful than conventional angiography and overnight hospital stay is not required. At Desun we have the necessary expertise and equipment to perform such a complicated procedure.

Radial Angioplasty
We are one of the first hospitals in Kolkata to have performed radial angioplasty successfully. Here the catheter is guided through the wrist.

Desun Hospital’s in house pathology laboratory is an extension of DESUN REFERENCE LAB, the largest reference lab of Eastern India. Ours is a fully automated and computerized pathology laboratory with the latest and most modern equipment available today and is operational round the clock. We have the largest pathology lab in Eastern India and we have the prestigious NABL accredition in 10 categories which is the highest level of excellence. Desun hospital and lab regularly performs more than 3000 advanced test- a feat unmatched by any other hospital or laboratory in Eastern India.

Since our Pathology is open round the clock we are able to get our reports in faster and hence no time is delayed in starting the treatment. This holds true especially in case of critically ill patients where most of the treatment depends on pending reports of advanced tests which is done in our in-house lab and need not be sent to Delhi or Mumbai for testing. Early diagnoses in such cases lead to early treatment and hence results in faster recovery. Since we have the only advanced pathology lab in Eastern India we regularly perform tests like APO A1- which is an indicator of heart attack, Tb PCR-the only correct test for TB or tuberculosis,HBA1C- to accurately calculate the blood sugar for the last 3 months etc.

This special branch of medicine deals with patients suffering from Chest Problem like pulmonary and bronchial disorders.

Patients suffering from chronic asthma are managed in a comprehensive method and proper rehabilitation are provided to avoid recurrence.
Prolonged therapy along with physical exercises (pulmonary physiotherapy) give excellent results.

The Neurology Department of Desun is one of the best in Eastern India. Our aim is to provide the best possible care for neuro cases. Neurology is the study and treatment of diseases of the nervous system. The nervous system includes:
